As the “power core” of underground operations such as mines and oil/gas wells, mine power systems undertake the power supply and signal transmission of various equipment, and their operational stability is directly related to work safety and production efficiency. Underground operating environments are constantly faced with harsh conditions such as dampness, high humidity, and heavy dust, and some areas are classified as Zone 2 explosive gas atmospheres, imposing extremely high requirements on the explosion-proof, flame-retardant, and environmental resistance properties of electrical connection equipment. With deep expertise in high-end precision connectors, Ankeno has independently developed the Ex n non-sparking flame-retardant electrical connector. With customized design and superior performance, it has successfully solved connection challenges in mine power systems and become the preferred supporting product for numerous mine and oil/gas well projects.

In an upgrade project for the mine power system of a large-scale mine, original connectors suffered from frequent issues including poor contact and signal interruption due to insufficient protection ratings and substandard explosion-proof performance. This not only affected the normal operation of key equipment such as ventilators and drainage pumps but also posed severe safety hazards. To thoroughly resolve this pain point, after extensive research and testing, the project party selected Ankeno Ex n non-sparking flame-retardant electrical connectors as core connecting components, which were fully applied in underground power distribution systems, auxiliary power systems, and signal transmission links.

The reason why Ankeno Ex n non-sparking flame-retardant electrical connectors can meet the stringent demands of mine power systems lies in their targeted product design and robust technical parameters. The product strictly complies with two national explosion-proof standards: GB3836.1-2010 and GB3836.3-2010, with an explosion-proof rating of Ex nA T4 Gc. It can be safely used in Zone 2 hazardous environments containing Class IIA explosive gases of Temperature Class T4, fundamentally eliminating safety accidents caused by electric sparks and meeting the core explosion-proof safety requirements of mine power systems.

Targeting the damp and rain-exposed harsh environment of mine power systems, the connector features an IP66 protection rating equipped with flame-retardant rubber sealing gaskets, which effectively resist the intrusion of moisture and dust, ensuring stable operation in a high-humidity environment of 90%–95% and a wide temperature range of -55℃ to +60℃. This completely solves short circuits and failures caused by moisture ingress in previous connectors. The housing is made of high-strength aluminum alloy and 316L stainless steel, providing both corrosion resistance and impact resistance to adapt to the complex underground mechanical environment and prevent connection failure due to equipment collision and wear.

In actual installation and operation, the user-friendly design of the connector greatly improves operation and maintenance efficiency. The plugs and sockets support two termination methods: soldering and crimping, allowing flexible selection according to underground construction requirements. The crimp contacts adopt highly reliable hyperboloid wire spring sockets, which not only ensure smooth plugging and unplugging but also minimize contact resistance, guaranteeing stable power and signal transmission and avoiding equipment shutdown due to poor contact. Meanwhile, the product adopts threaded quick connection and five-key positioning design, enabling blind mating and anti-mismating functions, which greatly shorten underground installation and maintenance time and reduce the labor intensity of operators.

In addition, the contacts of the connector support flexible pin and socket assembly and are detachable, and the sockets support both mobile and fixed installation methods, which can precisely adapt to the installation needs of different equipment in mine power systems and achieve customized matching. The gold-plated copper alloy contact material, together with a mechanical lifespan of 500 mating cycles, ensures long-term stable operation of the connector, reduces replacement frequency, and lowers project operation and maintenance costs.

Since the project was put into operation, Ankeno Ex n non-sparking flame-retardant electrical connectors have achieved zero-fault operation of power and signal transmission in the mine power system with stable performance, completely eliminating the safety hazards and maintenance problems of the original connectors. Its excellent explosion-proof and environmental resistance performance not only meets the safe operation requirements of mine power systems but also improves the operational efficiency of the entire system, providing a solid guarantee for safe production of the project.

As a leading enterprise in the high-end precision connector industry, Ankeno always takes customer needs as the orientation and provides customized, high-reliability connection solutions for special fields such as mine power systems with independent research and development capabilities. In the future, Ankeno will continue to focus on technological innovation, continuously optimize product performance, provide safe and efficient connection guarantees for more industrial hazardous environments, and support the high-quality development of the industry.
